Alan Simmons
Alan Simmons grew up in Buffalo and is a member of the Kenmore East graduating class of 1964, where he played a variety of intramural sports.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University College of Brockport in 1968. He followed that up with a Master of Science degree from the State University of Buffalo in 1973.
In his travels, he has coached bowling and baseball.
A math teacher at St. Joe’s, Simmons is the only coach the Marauder bowling program has ever had since it first started in 1970.
During his tenure, St. Joe’s bowling teams have won 23 Monsignor Martin Athletic Association titles and 11 All-Catholic championships. In fact, the league’s championship trophy is named after him.
Comment: “Coaching bowling for the last 51 years has been very rewarding! Every year offers a new experience. As the young bowler competes on the junior varsity or the veteran gets ready to take on the advanced level of varsity bowling and tournament competition – they are all proud to wear the maroon and white school jersey. They are anxious to compete and represent St. Joe's well in our tradition of excellence. I relish the opportunity to be there with them!”
