Paul
Grenauer '93
Paul Grenauer is a Buffalo native and a member of the St. Joe’s graduating class of 1983. He then went on to Canisius College, where he graduated in 1988.
As a student athlete, Grenauer participated in cross country, soccer, racquetball and track and field.
Grenauer started coach sailing at St. Joe’s in 2015 and has helped guide it into one of the better programs in Western New York. A few of his sailors come to him with experience on the sea – but most do not. He therefore has excelled in building the program from the ground up, teaching fundamentals to student-athletes who may never have been in a boat before.
On a national stage, they go up against the tough competition that are able to sail year-round; on the local level, the Marauders have had several successful seasons.
Comment: “It is truly satisfying to coach a good sailor to be a great sailor. It is even better to coach a young man who has never stepped foot in a boat to learn a sport which will last him a lifetime. Brotherhood is first and foremost with varsity sailing, and after that our goal is to develop great sailors both on and off the water.”
