Michael Thoin
Mike Thoin is a native of Kenmore and a 1975 graduate of Kenmore West High School, where he played baseball and soccer. As a senior, he captained the Blue Devils soccer team that was ranked fifth in the state.
He went on to Buffalo State College and got a degree in education and then picked up another degree in counseling from Canisius College in 2004.
Thoin has coached both soccer and baseball at the high school level and started coaching at St. Joe’s in 1998.
He will be starting his 23rd season as a coach for the Marauders and has an overall record of 279-95-43 for an average mark of 13-4-2. His teams have won the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association regular season crown 11 times and the playoff title 13 times.
Thoin has been the MMAA Boys’ Soccer Chairman since 2005 and has also been a member of the All-WNY selection and rankings committee since 2005.
During his tenure, Thoin has had 50 players selected to the All-WNY teams and 10 players named All-State. He’s a multiple MMAA Coach of the Year award winner and was named WNY High School Coach of the year in 2011.
