Eric Keppeler '85
Eric Keppeler is a lifelong resident of the Town of Tonawanda and a 1985 graduate of St. Joe’s, where he played intramural sports.
He went on to Canisius College and graduated in 1989 with degrees in history and English.
He stumbled into journalism almost by accident but has parlayed that into a career that has spanned more than 30 years of covering high school sports with stops at the Metro Community News, Bee Newspapers, the Batavia Daily News, the Niagara Gazette, the Buffalo News and the Tonawanda Sun.
He’s also spent time as a grant writer and has been an analyst for financial website RTT News for the past 14 years. He also recently started as editor for the West Seneca Bee.
Keppeler has also written a handful of children’s books about the space program.
He’s been married to wife Jill since 2002 and has two sons, Jim and Sam, who often accompany him to Marauder sporting events.
Comment: “In my time covering high school sports in Western New York, I’ve visited more than 50 schools – but there’s nothing like covering your alma mater. It’s like family – you’re a Marauder for life. In a very real sense, it’s been like coming home.”
